The Tale of Narcissus

Our shop name originates from the myth of Narcissus, a Greek hunter. One summer day, Narcissus caught a glimpse of himself in a pool and, without realizing it was his own reflection, fell deeply in love with it as if it were a whole other person. Unable to part from the allure of his own image, Narcissus realized that his love could not be reciprocated and melted away from the passion inside of him, eventually turning into a white and gold flower.

Our mission

Narcissus New York is rooted in the mythic, born from a childhood fascination with Greek mythology that grew into a lifelong study of beauty, power, and transformation. Each collection begins with a story: a heroine, a god, a monster. We translate their legends into form: wearable relics that blur the line between ornament and armor.

Founded in 2020 by designer Shana Mendelsohn, the world of Narcissus has since expanded into a small, independent network of jewelers, casters, and makers who share a belief in slow, intentional creation. Every piece is designed to be both sanctuary and strength, simultaneously a source of comfort and an armor to the outside world.

Our commitment extends beyond design. Every artist in our production chain earns a fair, livable wage, and every material is chosen to endure a lifetime and beyond. Each piece carries the hand of its maker and the echo of its myth, waiting to take on new meaning in yours.
